'"Looks like the UK news has once again played the 'Video Games Will Kill Us All Card' the &#194 &#160 Daily Mail this week had an article which cites a study from&#194 &#160 the Indiana University School of Medicine which will be published in full at the meeting of the Radiological Society of North America next week. The study compared MRI scans on 11 men from 18 to 29 years of age playing "violent" games ten hours a day for two weeks and those who didn't. The study reported that there was a difference in the brain activity of the group that played games, and the Daily Mail jumped on those results with inflammatory language and odd viewpoint: plain and simple headline grabbing, flame&#194 &#160 inducing&#194 &#160 bait.

The study, it must be noted, never mentions aggressive behavior but why should that stop a good headline&#194 &#160 "Violent videogames DO make people more aggressive". It's not like the press is currently under investigation or review at all.&#194 &#160 To me, the experiment only proves that gamers just use their brains differently. The altered brain activity does not necessarily translate into violent or aggressive behavior, and the jump to hammer home that link by the Daily Mail is what frustrates me. Terms like "anti-social behavior" and "aggressive" were never used by the study abstract and only fans the flames of the anti-gaming crowd. Come on, Daily Mail, I know you are just a tabloid, but you can do better than that.

But here is brighter news - at first I thought they were 'taking the piss' but it now looks like a new game is launching which is urine controlled. A bar has installed triggers in the urinals of their mens toilets, which when hit by a steady golden stream, activate a game at eye level.
Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto V

'"This is one of those stories that should surprise exactly no one, though it does have a nifty little twist. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the existence of the long-rumored next installment in its Grand Theft Auto Series. Rather than calling it Grand Theft Auto: Duluth or Grand Theft Auto: Moon Colony Zeta, Rockstar is skipping right ahead to a nice numbered title. Better still, it looks as though you'll be able to see a trailer for the game in just a matter of days.

Rockstar revealed the game's official logo on its site, along with the news that a trailer is coming November 2. That's November 2, 2011, which is just a few days from now. Surprise!

While you're waiting, feel free to dissect the logo for clues. The "V" is rendered in the same engraving style featured in U.S. currency. Could this mean that the game will feature...money? Sorry, that's about all we've got for the time being. We've already written about what we're hoping to see in the next entry, so check that out in the meantime.

Thanks for sharing your comment! If your comment doesn't appear right away, please be patient as it may take a few minutes to publish or may require moderation.

Man I love this, I am so gonna get this beautiful game. I love you Rockstar. Let the troll haters commence

Perhaps the money style and the ribbon in front of the V is referencing a Washington DC type of setting?

The Google+ project will do some of the same general things as Facebook, such as sending messages to friends, sharing links, chatting, and sharing pictures, but the big difference is that with Google+, you can choose who you want to share these things with. Unlike with Facebook where posting a link will show up on your profile for all of your 500 "friends" to see, but Google+ lets you do things a little differently. Here's how Google+ works:

Circles concept -a major part of Google+. This is where you choose who you want in your contacts. You can have a family Circle, a BFF Circle, a co-workers Circle, and even an "Epic bros" Circle. Google allows you to choose which people you want in what Circle. You then use those Circles for all of your Google+ activity, which we'll get into more in depth below, as Google shows in the demo video below.

Sparks - a feature that lets you select certain areas, hobbies, or interests that you particularly like. They're the things you always ramble on and on about when someone brings it up at a party, like that new album by your favorite musician, or a new comic book. Google wants to keep people searching for content on its site, so Sparks helps by delivering a "field of highly contagious content from across the Internet" on any topic.

Hangouts - one of the features I'm not quite sure will catch on, but it's a cool concept nonetheless. BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the device that the BlackBerry diehards and this time around the company has added in a capacitive touchscreen, swapped the trackball of yesteryear for an optical trackpad, and slimmed the whole thing down into a 10.5mm thick package.

As expected, the phone packs a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor that has only a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen with a 287dpi pixel density to worry about. This phone has 802.11a/b/g/n along with Bluetooth 2.1. Here are some specifications of the new device.

Droid X2 Verizon's successor to the wildly popular Droid X will, as we had heard, a 4.3-inch, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2-powered device with qHD resolution and eight-megapixel camera, currently running Android 2.2 Froyo but probably shipping with 2.3 Gingerbread.

Apparently the RAM/ROM configuration will remain identical to the original Droid X at 512MB/8GB, although the Tegra 2 chipset enables higher-quality video playback -1080p over HDMI, as well as higher framrates for both playback and capture. It's definitely looking like a worthy successor to the original Droid X, although a front facing camera would have been a nice addition.

Connectivity-wise, you've got the same EV-DO Rev. A mobile broadband and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, but Wi-Fi has gained the 802.11a standard for full a/b/g/n functionality. Sensors, meanwhile, also remain the same: proximity, light, accelerometer, and e-compass.

Craig Federighi and Phil Schiller said that OS X Lio had over 250 features, he outlined ten of the most important ones for developers at #WWDC. Apple Mac OS users will be able to get it on their own machines in July for just $29 through the Mac App Store and only through the Mac App Store.

Ferericchi ran down the best ten features of Mac OS Lion X , including full screen apps, multi touch gestures and Airdrop. Here's a short description of each Best Mac OS X Lion Features

Better touch gestures - Almost everything in Lion will be controllable by touch. You can use a three-finger swipe to cycle through apps, double tap to zoom, or pinch to zoom. If you're used to using iOS, this should come naturally.

Full-screen apps - Here's another feature that iPad and iPhone owners will love. Apple made it easy for developers to make their apps full screen. You can swipe through multiple full-screen apps using touch gestures. It looks good.

Mission control is Expose meets Spaces. You can control all your work spaces from one easy panel. You can also activate Mission Control swiping down with three fingers.

Mac App Store will be built in - The Mac App Store will ship with the Mac App Store. Mac apps will allow for push notifications, in-app purchases, and sandboxing.

Launchpad will store your apps - Launchpad is an iOS-like hub for all the apps you download from the App Store. You can activate it by clicking the app's icon or using a four-finger pinch gesture.

Resume saves your progress - If you close an app, it will open where you last left off.
Nokia N9 Teaser Ad Appears

'"Some of the tech media has been aware of the Nokia N9's existence and specifications are still vague. The MeeGo-powered Nokia N9 has appeared in a professional-looking teaser commercial, further suggesting that not only is this handset still destined for release, but that a launch may actually be imminent.

The UI seems to be consistent with the Anna release of Symbian instead of something totally unique to MeeGo, though elements like the status bar and multitasking appear different from what we've seen of that version of Symbian. Also, if you don't blink, you'll see the 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens and the chiclet keyboard.

A number of people are remarking that Symbian screen elements are being used here, so we perhaps looking at Anna and not MeeGo, but nothing is clear at this point. MeeGo Facebook page has almost confirmed that its OS is running here, meaning that the Symbian-flavored bits of the interface are probably just an attempt to create a tangible bridge between the two platforms.

BlackBerry Touch Monza 9860

'"This time, there's the latest news with the emergence of the new BlackBerry device, called BlackBerry Monza (Touch 9860). For lovers of products from Research In Motion, I hope you are always updating information in order to get a clear specification of the new BlackBerry handset.

BlackBerry Monza from Research In Motion has leaked out ahead of an official announcement. Possibility, RIM revealing afresh design that aims to accept Smartphones like Apple's IPhone and Google's Android OS. I've also heard rumors that an all touchscreen Blackberry was headed in the T-Mobile direction, because of the most recently BGR reported one of their sources had recently seen a T-Mobile branded edition floating around. The release date of the Blackberry "Monza" to the T-Mobile world on June 29th.

For precise specifications of BlackBerry Monza aren't yet available, the device includes an impressive touch-screen display which covers the entire front of the device. Behind the screen is a faster processor that improves the overall experience, while managing to reduce the thickness compared to the company's previous models.

The OS has also had an upgrade, to BlackBerry OS 6.1, which introduces the requirement for users to have a BlackBerry ID to unlock the handset. This, it's believed, will tie in to cloud-based backup and security functionality similar to Apple's MobileMe service. Without any physical keyboard, the BlackBerry Monza is unlikely to appeal to BlackBerry purists - but its sleek design heaps up well against competing Smartphones.
