That's pretty convoluted. Not only isn't this game finished yet, but FOUR different studios bid for it. The thing I find surprising is that it's not for some existing franchise, but for a game that will be called "Dante's Inferno". They are talking 7 figures for the purchase price. emote icon Nice coup, EA! Let's see if this game is a success when it is released sometime next year. I have not yet heard any buzz about it...

Would be an interesting shift in the dynamic of the industry if this starts a new trend. Getting movie studios to bid on new game IPs before they're released, and not the other way around? Very interesting indeed.

Fact: Video games produce more money than any other enterainment, yes more than movies, amusment parks, anything. Video games are number 1.

Times have changed it's not just for 12yo and nerds anymore.

So, this makes perfect sence to me. They all see a huge profit I'm suprised it was only 7 figures.

The mainstream film industry is also bigger. Games bring in more money than the box office, but movies bring in more when you combine box office with DVD sales.

Also, the revenue that is always shown for the game industry also includes hardware sales. I'm pretty sure the film industry blows away the game industry if you include DVD player sales o_O
