The Death of PC Gaming – Again
DeadlyFred says,
Personally I think gaming in general is on its way to a slow, painful death. Fact being that you have the huge popularity of titles like World of Warcraft, Rockband and... well, everything on the Wii which artificially inflate the player base. Forgive me for sounding snobbish but I doubt the majority of WoW's 14 million odd player base really counts since playing ONE game religiously doesn't exactly make you a "gamer."
Basically, the industry has gotten too damn big for itself thanks to the rabid popularity of a mere handful of titles, by my reasoning. Development costs go up, output goes down and variety goes in the toilet because companies need shoe-in titles and don't want to take any risks.

Hard to buy what's not there to buy-- I've had to resort almost entirely to on-line purchases for PC games lately.
