Rumor: $199 Xbox with Motion Controller on the Way
BombTrack says,
This would be awesome. It's about time someone does something like this.
Article excerpt from kotaku.com —
" Xbox 360 Fanboy, citing "a tip from a source close to Microsoft 's marketing department," says the price cut to $199 for the Arcade system is meant to position that bundle against the Wii . So it'll get a huge family-friendly marketing push and title support...."

Could this actually be true? This is the first hint of this rumor I've heard. If true, it sounds like a Wii-ification of the XBox, presumably only for this "family-friendly" bundle.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised by it. I just hope their implementation is Motion Plus-style good and not SIXAXIS-style awful. I don't think you'll see *too* many games supporting the motion control, but it might mean some sort of multiplatform-style support for Wii-centric games, which would be good, given how messed up Nintendo's ability to keep Wiis on store shelves has been.

I wonder if there will be any Wii-to-360 ports to release when this ships, or if it'll all be first party titles.

Sony NEEDS to drop the damn price tag on the PS3. But already hearing of a new PSP that's the same price as The Wii doesent look to good for Sony. Microsoft has done an excellent job for the exception of some 360 issues I heard people had alot on 06/07. I just got The Arcade Core 3 weeks ago and am Satisfied but got it USED for 200 and no Hardware so I had to get a memory card atm.

Agreed, re: the PS3's price. I don't care about more storage, or packed in games. If the console costs more than $300, you're WAY too expensive, Blu-Ray player or not. I'd consider getting a PS3 at $199, but at the rate they're cutting prices, it'll be 2010 before that happens at the earliest.
The fact that they've kept the price on the PSP so high for so long is just stupid. The hardware's simply not good enough to justify that kind of price tag. At $120, the thing would be an absolute steal, but at more than double that, given the relative lack of must-own titles... no thanks.
My own PSP's getting some limited use since I picked up Final Fantasy Tactics for cheap, but aside from God of War, which I'm waiting to drop to $20, I can't even think of a PSP title I'm looking forward to. :(

Agreed. The pricing structure for the various platforms, not to mention the games for the platforms, make some of them seem completely out of reach for me.
This is a really solid price point for a house with multiple individuals (be they kids or adults) who like to game.

It can't be *that* terrible!
At least the price point is good, even if the motion controller ends up sucking.
Maybe my little brother will finally get an xbox 360 for Christmas.

definitely. a 500 dollar console is BEYOND un-practical. They need to drop that mo-fo price by a hundred at lease.
