After reading what information is listed here, it makes me wonder if you will be able to trade the Pokemon that you have on Diamond/Pearl to Platinum. According to the sites' info, if you trade from Platinum to Diamond/Pearl, the stuff de-evolves.

Man that's what they always want you to do in a pokemon game...TRADE. Trade to get this-Trade to get that. I hate to say it but I think Pokemon could be getting near the end of its lifeline, but that just my opinion.

I've been really impressed with how long they have been able to keep the franchise going. They hit on a really good formula to hook new players and keep current ones going for a while, but I think as you say, for people who have been playing Pokemon for a long time, it is getting tiring to just trade and trade and trade. It would be great to see them come up with a new mechanic to freshen up the franchise.

The thing about Nintendo and Pokemon is that they manage to ensnare entirely new generations of gamers each time they release a new set of Pokemon games. The first Pokemon games came out 10 years ago. It's not the same people playing the game anymore, yet it continues to sell 4M units every time (when they have a new dual-release main SKU, that is).
