Man... it just keeps getting worse. There are companies out there (Nintendo, Activision) that are still making tons of money, but the rest of the industry is struggling to stay afloat. With the massive layoffs at all these companies, there's fewer and fewer jobs to go around...
(Yet another good argument against going to a "Game Developer School" - get a well-rounded education so when the stuff hits the fan, you can at least have other options.)

Egads. It's pretty big when the corporate communication person is cut, because it's such a public position and it's the person who'd deal with this layoff.
I hope people are able to find jobs quickly! :(
