I understand that this is not strictly a Rock Band-style competitor in the music-game genre, but it's really disappointing that the songs are going to be mostly public domain stuff.
Nintendo had a really fun game in Donkey Konga, but blew it with an awful setlist. I'm sure this will be full of old standards and Nintendo soundtrack stuff, but it's just not compelling for a music game. You need songs people are excited about, and that they recognize. They may have the latter, but not the former.
