I wont buy this until I see something on the shelf. It just seems like a dumb idea.

I thought the whole point of consoles (versus PCs) is to have a standardized, fixed set of hardware to develop against. Even with very minor hardware differences, this would be a huge nightmare for the developers to have to develop for, test against, and provide support for. As a developer myself, itty bitty minor hardware issues/differences can make a huge difference in development time. I shudder to think.
