my take, microsoft rips its consumers off big time...charge for online service lol, the artical said they had solutions to the problem and one of them would only cost .50 a console haha wow. Nice to know they know about problems but dont care to fix it couse of cost...smh

Pfft, that's money grubbing companies for you. "omg, price is too high when its only an extra dolar per console!" I'm exaggerating of course, but that's basically what they think. Some companies will cut corners just to save a few precious dollars, but then consumers will start bitching about it. I'm glad I don't own a console...

Doesn't a company have to be money-grubbing by default, or it's considered a non-profit? I wonder if there are any successful non-profit games available. I know there was that huge open source mod that one community is working on, which I think is great. But obviously, it's something people can only do in their spare times, not instead of a job.

Would you propose people only make games for free in their spare time? One benefit would be that only people who are truly invested in the games would work on them. However, an obvious downside would be that many people who would create great games would not be able to work on them without pay.

I mean, I hate money-grubbing as much as the next person, but a company has to make something someone will buy for them to stay in business, right? So at some point, it's unfair to categorize a normal amount of commerce as money-grubbing.

Right, we ARE in a capitalist country, and so to "win" life is basically to make mucho dinero.
And as with the online service, console makers need to get revenue somehow. Sony is probably only making theirs free just so consumers dont have anything to say about that as well. I mean seriously, with their loss of profits per console and still quite a high price, they can't afford to have more people dislike them.
And when there are stuff to fix that "only costs X per console", there are usually more than one issue that can claim the same title, and when you accumulate all that expense, its quite a bit more than the original X per console.

Every thing remotely related to Bill Gates turns to garbage in less than a year. I've never seen an X-box that lasted the warranty.
