Wow. I've been a long time subscriber to EGM, which is getting the can after next month. Sucks. Basically means the end of US videogame magazines, as far as I can tell. The only thing left that's worth reading is EDGE.
It's a shame - EGM/1up's been one of the few magazines that's not obviously in the tank for publishers' PR departments, and I liked James Mielke's new direction for the magazine, it felt (in a very small way) like it was almost going back to the heyday of Next Generation, where there were more interesting articles and not just two paragraph "sound bites."
Ah, well. There's just no stopping the internet.

Maybe we'll finally stop seeing articles that claim the game industry is recession-proof.

Well, that's a different story, IMO. The story here is that the internet killed videogames magazines dead. In such a fast-moving marketplace, the lead time for print is murder.
