iPhone Tetris Clone 'Tris' Pulled From App Store

Not really sure how I feel about this. Tris is an OBVIOUS Tetris clone, but it does have an entirely new control scheme, even if the underlying mechanics are identical. Still, I'm not sure what kind of case The Tetris Company has - it'd be like iD Software going after every FPS after Wolfenstein 3D.
The problem, of course is that Tetris consists entirely of the mechanics. If you can't protect the mechanics somehow, there's no way to make money off the game, which sucks. I dunno. One of those legal messes I hope I never get involved in. :

Buy? I downloaded my copy for free. Time to delete I guess.
I'd have to say that I agree with Teteris that this game infinges their copyright. And I agree with Helava: I hope I'm never in that kind of legal battle. :D

helava, I think your first paragraph makes sense if you think they are persuing from a patent angle, where the implementation and mechanics make a difference, not from a copyright angle. However, the quoted article doesn't state what the specifics of the lawsuit are, so I have no way of knowing which is the crux of the suit.
If it is a copyright issue, then the guy might be right that renaming and rebranding it might save the day.
