How to condescend to women about technology, the book
BombTrack says,
Uhm...this book is lame. I know some women who are a HELL OF A LOT more tech savvy than me. I am sure this will spark some debate.

The linked article does a hilarious job of ripping apart the idiotic book, so I don't have to! :D "And since when do we have problems surfing the Web with confidence? Is this 1995, or are you over the age of 60? No? Then that's absurd." -- Seriously. Computers are a part of everyday, normal life for pretty much everyone in this country under the age of 30, and for many under 40. I don't know about the old folk. ;) I'm just kidding.
This might have been a good idea of titled and marketed as a "for dummies" line of books, but it's ridiculous the assumptions they made about women's lack of tech-savvy or some special perceived "style" of websurfing we need to know. I honestly have to say I never felt that my first priority in picking out a computer was how it fit with my home decor. WTF?!
I think the weirdest thing is what the people in the article pointed out, that it's geared toward young women, probably my age or younger, but grossly misses the mark in figuring out that women my age or younger are all over online stuff and SMSing already. If they targeted a much older demo, or just a un-techid demo, they might have had a shot. This is an utter failure and is totally insulting to me. Rather, it might be more insulting if I weren't laughing over how silly it is.
