Dead Space banned in 3 countries

Due to it's brutal gore, the new survival horror game set in space has been banned by Germany, Japan, and China.
Since when do any of these countries shy away from gore? What's next? Al-queda decides it's too bloody?
I've been messing around with the viral campaign they put out, and am enjoying it alot.

It's official- Dead Space has been banned from release in Japan, Germany, and China. No copies of the new survival horror game will be allowed to be sold. It's a damn shame, but it only adds to the mystique of the game, really. Perhaps they should repackage...

Germany and Japan both have really strict ratings systems (I'm not surprised about China, and I expect Australia will ban it in short order). I'd venture that it's *because* of their history in WWII that they're stricter about these sorts of things.
I'm interested to see how this turns out - EA took some pretty big chances with this, both in terms of the original IP and the *way* they developed the concept. I hope it turns out well, and that EA pursues more original content in the future.
