Cheap hardware loves Linux, hurts Microsoft
Samael says,
Beware of the penguin! I love Linux but so often I am screwed into using Windows due to certain essential hardware components not having any available drivers for the version of Linux I need. Oh well, Linux is still FREE!

" Microsoft used to bury the cost of Windows in the $1,000-plus price of a new PC. But as personal computers take different and cheaper forms, Microsoft Windows is starting to look a heck of a lot more expensive...and expendable.

Just because it is possible to use Linux technology to set network with other computers doesn't hurt Microsoft a bit, what hurt Microsoft is yahoo rejection, yahoo should give msn some money in a new merger, without it yahoo advertising have less margin then kanoodle and they don't even have stock symbol.

Spoken like someone who isn't familiar with Linux. Anything you can do on Windows you can do on Linux. And with the ease of use improving with Linux in the last few years, I would not be surprised to see Linux go mainstream. I've already seen computers offering SuSe on display in electronics stores. What makes Linux so great is that is can be exactly what you need. It can be a simple no nonsense operating system or a very powerful network server. I use Linux for security auditing because of the fact that it supports so many more features then Microsoft does. Microsoft actually prevents you from using their exploits and testing their security while Linux allows you to do exactly that and more. Plus with Linux being open source, development is not constrained by licensing and restrictions from the OS. If you've ever used an Apple computer since Mac came out then you have used a derivative of Unix which is the basis for Linux. In fact SuSe is very much like Mac OSX, with the exception that SuSe integrates with both Apple and Windows seamlessly.
