I'm getting really annoyed at how expensive some of these limited edition sets are getting. $90 for Resident Evil 5? No, thanks. $80 for Halo Wars? Sorry. I love a nice steelbook case, but I'm not paying another $20 for that, some behind-the-scenes stuff I'll watch once, and a map or two that I'll be able to download eventually for a buck or three.

If you put together a great CE, like Bioshock's, I'll pay another $10. If the game's also awesome. If there's *any* doubt in my mind, forget it. I can't keep up. I used to get all sorts of CE's, but not anymore. :P

CE's are really just for collectors. If you're not an avid collector, it's just going to sit on a shelf or in a box collecting dust (though arguably, that's the same with collectors, too).

Part of the problem is that for some games that are excellent, I do want to have the CE - I want to see the behind the scenes stuff, blah blah blah. For stuff like Fallout, or Gears, sweet. But then I get the CE for something like Resistance 2, and want to throw it into a fire somewhere.

What I'd like is almost the ability to upgrade to a CE if I really like the game AFTER the fact, not before.

I ended up with the Collector's Edition. It's not worth the $100. The game is awesome, but the extras in the collector's edition are a slap in the face.

The Batarang is a useless, clumsily manufactured piece of plastic. The extra videos on the second Blu-ray disc actually COPY some of the videos that are on the first gameplay disc! The "Dr's journal" copies inmate information that you get through the course of playing the game anyway.

Worthless.
