IMO, no way. I don't see anyone actually mounting a successful new console at this point - the resources required to launch a platform that competes with the 360 or the PS3 are staggering, and the total dominance of Nintendo in the casual space means you can't compete at a lower level, either.
I think in a few years, it'll be possible again - when hardware "peaks" in power, and starts to become cheaper. Or if MS/Sony don't take as large a step forward, graphically, in the next generation as a response to Nintendo's success with the Wii, you might see someone step in at the top end, though that's *really* unlikely as well (again, due to how expensive that is).
Hard to say, really.

The only new contenders onto the console scene, as far as I am concerned, are not really consoles, but high powered phones, like the iPhone and gPhone. But someone trying to enter the market with a dedicated console? It is hard to imagine.
Given that, I've constantly been surprised by the market and the random innovations it produces, so I can't 100% rule it out.
I wonder if there is room for a flash gaming console? Handheld, good controls, can play any flash game... I could imagine that being really nice to have. But will the phones just do this instead?
